Why I Built LocketVault
An introduction from our founder, and the case for knowing what you own.
I grew up behind the jewelry counter. My family has been in the pawn business for three generations, and for more than fifteen years I’ve held other people’s treasures in my hands: engagement rings, estate watches, a grandmother’s gold bangle, a bag someone saved a year to buy.
I’ve learned that these pieces are never just about value. They carry history. They mark the biggest moments of our lives. And almost nobody has a record of them.
The moment it matters
I’ve watched it happen more times than I can count. Someone comes in after a loss, a theft, a divorce, or the passing of a parent, and they’re trying to piece together what they had. What karat was it? Where’s the appraisal? Was that diamond a carat or two? Is it a natural or lab-grown diamond? Who gave it to her, and when?
The details that seemed obvious for years suddenly aren’t there. That uncertainty turns a hard moment into a stressful one, and it often costs real money.
It doesn’t have to be this way.
Why documentation matters
Insurance. A claim is only as strong as your proof. Photos, receipts, and appraisals are what make a claim quick instead of painful.
Selling or trading. When you know what a piece is and what it’s worth, you negotiate from confidence rather than guesswork.
Estate planning. Clear records make it easier to decide who receives what, and they help avoid confusion and conflict later.
Theft or loss. A detailed description and clear photos give police, insurers, and dealers something concrete to work with.
Travel. Knowing exactly what you packed, and being able to prove it, is peace of mind you can take with you.
Passing pieces down. The story matters as much as the stone. Who wore it, where it came from, and what it meant are details that fade faster than we think.
What LocketVault is
LocketVault is one secure place to keep everything about the valuable assets in your life: associated photos, receipts, certificates, appraisals, and the stories behind them. Your vault is private by default. Only you can see it unless you choose to share it.
It’s also about clarity. Most women I meet are sitting on more than they realize. LocketVault helps you see what you own and understand what it’s worth.
Start with one piece
You don’t have to catalog your whole jewelry box today. Start with the piece you’d be most heartbroken to lose. Take a few photos, add what you know, and write down its story.
That’s how a record begins. And one day, you or someone you love will be glad it’s there.
Stay Golden,
